AMIE Social Sport Limited ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and safeguard your personal data when you use AMIE, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Data Controller

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign up we may collect your first name, last name, email address, username, date of birth and profile details including city, age range, sports interests, fitness level, goals, availability, what you are looking for and bio. Your full name is used for account administration. Your date of birth is used to confirm you are 18 or over and, where applicable, display your age or age range according to your settings.

Optional profile details

You may choose to add information such as a phone number, Instagram handle, additional photos and student or university information where relevant. Optional profile information is controlled by you.

Verification

If you complete photo verification, we may collect and store a verification selfie so we can compare it with your profile photos and support trust and safety processes.

Activity content

Posts, comments, reactions and workout logs you create may be stored so that we can display them to the people or communities with whom you choose to share them.

Location data

We collect location information to personalise your experience and help match you with nearby members, communities and activities. This may include a city or region selected manually, a postcode or address entered via search, or precise coordinates where you explicitly grant location permission. We use location to calculate distance and provide local recommendations. We do not display precise coordinates or an exact address to other members.

Bookings and payments

If you book an activity we collect the booking information necessary to manage that booking. Paid bookings may be processed through Stripe. We do not store full payment card details ourselves.

Usage data

We may collect information about how you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used and timestamps.

Communications

Messages sent through the platform may be stored in order to provide messaging functionality. We do not routinely read private messages, although we may access message content where necessary to investigate a report, protect someone’s safety or comply with law.

Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we may store a device token so that notifications can be delivered. Notifications can be disabled in your device or app settings.

Device information

We may process information such as device type, browser and IP address for security and operational purposes.

Trust and safety

We may retain safety-related information linked to an account, including verification status, reports, blocks and moderation outcomes, so that we can protect members and operate the service safely.

3. Lawful Basis for Processing

We process personal data under one or more lawful bases under UK GDPR, including:

Contract: where processing is necessary to provide the AMIE service you have requested.

Legitimate interests: including maintaining and improving the service, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing community rules, protecting users and providing relevant local content, where those interests do not override your rights.

Consent: where you have given specific consent, such as sharing precise device location or receiving optional marketing communications. Consent can be withdrawn.

Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with UK law.

4. How We Use Your Information

We may use information:

• to provide, maintain and improve AMIE;
• to match you with relevant workout besties;
• to recommend communities and activities;
• to provide local recommendations;
• to process bookings and payments;
• to provide messaging and community features;
• to send important service communications and notifications;
• to enforce community standards;
• to investigate reports and protect member safety;
• to detect and prevent fraud or abuse;
• to understand, in aggregate, how the service is used.

5. Location Data — Additional Detail

You can choose how you share your location. Depending on the product functionality available, you may select a region, enter a city or location manually, use an address or postcode search, or grant device permission for precise location.

Precise device location is only collected where you grant the relevant browser or device permission. You can change or remove location information through your account settings or device permissions.

Location may be used to calculate approximate distance to other members, communities and activities. Exact coordinates or an exact home address are not displayed publicly to other members.

6. Partner and Sponsored Content

AMIE may work with verified venues, communities or brands. Where sponsored or featured content is shown, it may be targeted using broad geographic or interest information. We do not sell your personal data.

Partners may receive aggregated or anonymised information about how users engage with their content where appropriate. Individually identifying personal data is not provided to partners for their own unrelated advertising purposes without an appropriate lawful basis.

6a. Payments and Bookings

Paid bookings may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider. Payment card details are entered directly with the payment provider and are not stored by AMIE.

We may retain records of bookings, amounts paid and relevant payment references so that we can administer tickets, refunds, organiser payments, customer support, accounting and legal obligations.

When you book an activity, the organiser may receive the information reasonably necessary to administer the activity, such as your name, ticket information and information you provide during booking.

7. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share relevant information with:

• other members, where information is part of the profile or content you have chosen to make visible;
• activity or community organisers where necessary to operate something you have joined or booked;
• service providers that help us operate the service, including hosting, payments, email delivery, mapping, analytics and technical infrastructure;
• professional advisers or authorities where reasonably necessary;
• law enforcement, regulators or other parties where required by law.

8. International Transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services and fulfil the purposes described in this policy.

When an account is deleted, profile information and personal content may be deleted or anonymised, except where specific records must be retained for legal, tax, accounting, payment, fraud-prevention or safety purposes.

Booking, refund and transaction records may be retained for periods required by law. Limited safety records may be retained where reasonably necessary to protect members and prevent previously removed users from evading safety measures.

Anonymised information that can no longer identify an individual may be retained for analytics and service improvement.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational security measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls and secure handling of credentials and third-party services.

No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights including:

AMIE may use profile and preference information to recommend relevant members, communities or activities. This recommendation functionality is intended to assist discovery and does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

12. Cookies and Similar Technologies

This public AMIE website does not use advertising cookies.

The AMIE platform may use essential technologies required to operate the service and, where implemented, optional analytics technologies subject to applicable consent requirements.

AMIE is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly provide accounts to children under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information to us, contact hello@joinamie.co.uk.
